After Brick Pollitt injures himself while drunkenly revisiting his high school sports-star days, he and his wife, Maggie, visit his family's Mississippi plantation for the 65th birthday of his hot-tempered father, Big Daddy.
His reunion with his father, who is dying of cancer, jogs a host of memories and revelations for both father and son. However, the other family members are well aware of Big Daddy's imminent demise and have their eyes on his fortune.
