Police Officer of the Year Recognized

Congratulations to Detective Van Alstine who was the 2024 recipient of the Police Officer of the year award. Thursday evening many officers and community members gathered at the VFW to honor John Van Alstine on his award. Thanks for your dedicated service to our community and the Moonlighter’s Exchange Club and VFW for hosting this event!

SHOWING RESPECT TO THE FALLEN

On Wednesday, May 14th, officers of the Owatonna Police Department traveled to St. Paul to pay their respects to fallen officers by standing guard at the Minnesota Peace Officer Memorial.

Owatonna Police Officer and LEMA Honor Guard Member Zachary Plein played the bugle during several wreath ceremonies.

Special thanks to the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association for all of their work to host this important event.

THIS WEEK'S IN CUSTODY ARRESTS

Brenda Nye was formally charged with domestic assault and 5th degree assault stemming from a May 12th incident.
Scott Pfeifer was formally charged with harassment restraining order violation stemming from a May 12th incident.
Landon Hagmann was formally charged with domestic assault by strangulation and domestic assault-misdemeanor stemming from a May 14th incident.
