2024 Street & Utility

McKinley Street SW, Anderson Place SW

Week of September 30th – The contractor finished up prepping for the concrete work. On Wednesday, the concrete sub-contractor poured curb & gutter and started the sidewalk. Friday, they returned and finished the sidewalk and poured the driveway approaches. Thursday, Wencl was back in to begin the final grading of the street surface and clean up the job site. 

Week of October 7th – Wencl will start grading the yards and boulevards, placing topsoil and will complete the final grading of the streets. Thursday, they are anticipating the asphalt paving sub-contractor to be in to place the 1st layer of pavement. Friday, Wencl may start setting the manhole castings in place.

Vine Street Parking Lot Progress 

No Parking in the lot - Monday September 30 @ 6:30 am

The first week of construction on the Vine Stret Parking Lot is under our belt. Removals and demolition were completed on the western portion of the site to make way for the underground infiltration system. Excavation and soil amendments will continue on the underground system through early next week and move into storm sewer installation. As a reminder, the parking lot will remain closed throughout the duration of the project, please refer to the Downtown Public Parking Map (PDF) or scan the QR code for alternate parking options.

Updates relating to timelines, project progression and potential traffic disruptions will posted on owatonna.gov and the Owatonna Public Works Facebook page.

Street Department Overlay

South Street E/Minnesota Avenue SE

Earlier this week the Street Department completed an overlay on South Street E and Minnesota Avenue SE. Thank you for your patience as this project took place!
