East Side Corridor Project Update
Steele County and the City of Owatonna thank everyone who attended the East Side Corridor Project Public Information Meeting in May and who provided comments at the meeting or via other correspondence. Our project team has updated the project website to include the information and displays that were presented at that meeting. We have especially updated the Frequent Asked Questions tab to provide responses to what we have heard from the public. Check out the website at eastsidecorridor.com.
With Alternative 3 (29th Avenue) selected as the preferred corridor alternative, we have started studies to understand the impacts along that corridor such as archeology, wetlands, and noise. Those studies will continue through the fall.
Once all the impacts are understood, we’ll identify ways to avoid, minimize, or mitigate the impacts and prepare the environmental documents. That information will be presented to the public at the next Public Information Meeting sometime in early 2024. Watch for announcements of that meeting via our webpage, Facebook, or email subscription.
