Truman Avenue Update

Last week :

Legends Concrete was on-site Monday and paved the remaining Concrete Curb & Gutter on-site, between Havana Rd. & Murray St.  After completing the Concrete Curb & Gutter, they were not on-site for the remainder of the week.

Northland Grading & Excavating worked on tolerancing (finish grading) the aggregate subbase to prepare for the base course paving on the rest of the project.   Crane Creek Asphalt was originally scheduled to be on-site Thursday to pave the rest of the base course on the project, but due to the rain on Wednesday night/Thursday morning they had to push the base course paving back to next week; rescheduled now for Tuesday (11-16-21).

 This week:

Crane Creek Asphalt now plans to pave the base course on the rest of the project on Tuesday of this week; weather depending that is.  After they complete the rest of the base course, they will pave a 2-ft wide asphalt wedge along the face of the curb & gutter for the entire length of the project.  The reason for paving this 2-ft asphalt wedge is to protect the concrete curb & gutter through the winter until the surface course can be paved next year in the spring.

Legends Concrete will be on-site this week working on pouring the rest of the driveways on the project.

Northland will be on-site working on backfilling behind the back of curb and placing & grading aggregate subbase for sidewalk anywhere sidewalk excavation has already been completed on the project.

 This Year & Next Year:

  • Base Course Asphalt will be paved this year with a 2-ft asphalt wedge also along the face of the curb & gutter for the duration of the winter.
  • Surface Course Asphalt will be paved next year in the spring.
  • All driveways will be poured this year before the end of the year and residents will have driveway access through the duration of the winter.
  • Sidewalk sections not already poured will be poured next year in the spring.  No more sidewalk excavation will be done this year.   Any areas where sidewalk has been excavated by not poured yet will have class 5 aggregate subbase placed and graded for the duration of the winter.
  • Permanent Traffic Signs will be installed on the project before the end of this year.   After the permanent traffic signs have been installed, temporary traffic control along the project will be removed from the project site for the duration of the winter.  Traffic and pedestrians should have full access and the flow of traffic should be fully restored to normal for the winter.
  • Topsoil behind the back of curb will be placed and graded this year.
  • Sodding will likely be completed next year in the spring.

 Intersections affected:

Traffic should have full access through and across Truman Ave. now. Construction and traffic control is still present on-site though and traffic and pedestrians should exercise caution when using Truman Ave.

The Base Course Paving is scheduled for Tuesday of this week (11-16-21).   During the Base Course Paving operation, some side road intersections will be temporarily closed to traffic and pedestrians.  Crane Creek Asphalt will have flaggers at all side roads along Truman Ave. during this operation to direct traffic and pedestrians accordingly while the base course paving is underway.  As Crane Creek completes the base course paving at each side-road intersection, traffic and pedestrians should be able to get through shortly after; at the direction of the flaggers that is.

After the Base Course & Asphalt Wedge are paved, traffic should have full access through and across Truman Ave. again.
